Dogs six months of age and older must be licensed yearly by July 1st. The licensing fee is $8.00 to license a spayed or neutered dog with a current rabies vaccination, or $19.00 to license an unspayed or unneutered dog with a current rabies vaccination. Dogs must wear a collar or harness with both their license and rabies tag attached. Owners must keep their dog’s license, rabies certificate, and spay/neuter certificate on hand to show the Town Clerk or Municipal Animal Control Officer.

The position of Animal Control Officer provides for the protection of people, animals and property from damage, injury and nuisance caused by dogs. The Animal Control Officer is charged with the enforcement of laws pertaining to the licensing and control of dogs, as well as rabies control involving domestic animals, investigations, legal actions, and impoundments.

The Town of Sharon and the Animal Control Officer are responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under the direction and control of the Animal Control Officer.
