SHARON PARKS AND RECREATION IS ON THE ROAD AGAIN

GENERAL MANSFIELD HOUSE  & DAVISON ARTS CENTER

WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY

  WE WILL BE LEAVING THE SHARON TOWN HALL AT 9:30AM AND ARRIVING IN MIDDLETOWN AROUND 10:45.  WE WILL VISIT THE MANSFIELD HOUSE UNTIL NOON, LUNCH AT THE TIBETAN KITCHEN (??) AND THEN VISIT THE DAVISON ARTS CENTER ON THE CAMPUS OF WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY. 
WE WILL DEPART FOR HOME AROUND 3:30PM.

      THE COST OF ENTRY TO THE GENERAL’S HOUSE IS $2, THERE IS NO COST TO THE ART CENTER.  LUNCH IS PER INDIVIDUAL.

Come soar with Audubon as we welcome summer and celebrate Wildlife and Conservation in the Northwest Corner at Raptors and Riesling, and Butterflies Too! on Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Sharon Audubon Center (located at 325 Cornwall Bridge Road, Sharon, CT 06069).

Enjoy fine wines and delicious hors d'oeuvres while taking in the beautiful views overlooking Sharon Audubon Center's Ford Pond. Meet Audubon’s accomplished staff and hear the rescue stories of the center’s resident raptors. Stroll through pollinator gardens and preview the new Butterfly Flight House that will open later this summer. Take part in a chance to win a private tour of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic (and more) in the Silent Auction. It will be a special evening celebration with old friends and new.

Individual tickets are $45 each. Multiple ticket package options are available through event sponsorship levels. Proceeds from this event support conservation, education, and the hundreds of injured and orphaned wildlife patients admitted to the rehabilitation clinic each year at Audubon Sharon.

Sharon Audubon Center is an engaging nature education center with a critical Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic located in Sharon, Connecticut. We are part of the Audubon Connecticut state office of the National Audubon Society and the Atlantic Flyway, and steward a total of four Audubon nature sanctuaries that encompass 3,000 acres primarily woodland habitat in Northwestern Connecticut. Our mission is to protect birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow. The Collection Day is AVAILABLE AT NO CHARGE to residents of these twelve participating towns:

Canaan, Colebrook, Cornwall, Goshen, Harwinton, Kent, Litchfield, Norfolk, North Canaan, Salisbury, Sharon and Torrington.

Registraton is Required

Call your town/city hall to register.  You must obtain a registration ticket.  See brochures at town/city hall for more details.  Some town halls are closed on Fridays so register early!

The Hotchkiss Library of Sharon is pleased to announce our summer art exhibition, Peter Steiner: Paintings, and opening reception on Saturday, June 1, from 4 to 6 pm. The show will be on display through the month of August.
Peter Steiner, the eldest child of Austrian immigrants, grew up in Cincinnati. After college in Miami he served in the Army in Germany and then earned a Ph.D. In German Literature from the University of Pittsburgh.
Steiner taught German at Dickinson College but left after eight years to become a cartoonist and painter.
He was a cartoonist for the New Yorker for twenty-five years and has been writing novels for the last two decades. His sixth, The Good Cop, will be published in September.
Please join us on Saturday, June 1, from 4 – 6pm. Refreshments will be served.
