  Sharon Parks & Recreation Trip

Adventure travelers all….  The bus will leave the Sharon Town Hall at 9:30am.  We will head for West Haven, CT.  If the weather is accommodating we will stop at Sandy Point Beach for a short beach visit ( it is a bird sanctuary which appears to be visitor friendly!)and then head over to JIMMIES of SAVIN ROCK restaurant for lunch.  After lunch we will take a visit to the PEZ MUSEUM in Orange.  As we head for home I would propose we consider stopping in Bridgeport at the TWO ROADS BREWERY and try a craft beer.  Arrival home 4:30ish.  Our stops can be tailored to the weather and/or the interest of the group.

      Anticipated cost for the trip is your lunch at Jimmies and Two Roads Brewery.

Fellowship trained in integrative medicine, Dr. Susan Parisi, OB/GYN, will discuss complementary therapies that support women’s health.

Unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue and can lead to accidental poisoning, misuse and overdose. To address this crucial public safety concern, local law enforcement and Sharon Hospital will team up to help community members dispose of unwanted prescription, over-the counter and pet medications. The service is free and anonymous. Medications should be kept in original packaging with the patient information removed. Participants will receive a tote bag for participating while supplies last.

  Audubon Kids' Day

Audubon is pleased to announce it will be hosting its annual Audubon Kids’ Day
event on Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 12 – 3 p.m

Sharon Audubon Center on Route 4 in Sharon, Connecticut.

This fun autumn event, geared towards young children and their families, features carnival-type games, kids’ crafts, live animals, a hay bale maze, hay wagon shuttles, professional face painting, a large leaf pit for jumping, balloon twisting, and snacks, including fresh delicious apple cider donuts from Great Cape Baking Co. Children are encouraged to come in costume and join in the costume parade around the center grounds at 2:30 p.m. before ending the day with a live bat program with “the Bat Lady” Gerri Griswold.

This event is sponsored in part by the Armand Oppenheimer Environmental Fund, Northwest Realty, Sharon Dental Associates, and Sharon Hospital, and is ideal for children Pre-K thru 3rd grade. Admission is only $20 per carload at the gate.

This class will help participants reduce pain and stiffness as well as increase overall muscle strength, coordination and endurance. A certified therapeutic recreation specialist trained by the Arthritis Foundation will help people manage arthritis symptoms, maintain mobility and safely improve fitness levels. Activities are appropriate for most and can be modified to match participant skill levels. Please come in sneakers and with water.
